Reading this and other blogs, it amazes me that some people still seem to think this is about just one school. Our elementary PAC has sent formal requests to the district and many informal parent concerns were e-mailed to the trustees. Nobody has had a reply.
I couldn't believe these women from Langley Secondary. In their position, I might have started with, 'we see how hard this process is for you. We will work with you to ensure that enough resources are made available to help your kids through the transitions should this get approved. We will welcome you to our school.'
What we heard was, 'you people are rude and ignorant. You don't listen and you don't understand what is going on. We are more important than you so just get over yourselves.'
Do you wonder what was going on the minds of those teenagers?
Then we hear from kids in soccer how 'my parents say this serves Stafford right. they wouldn't let us fundies in their school.'
I think the district had better hire a whole lot more security guards if they are going to keep pitting school against school.

CD it is sad that homegrown people have been pitted against each other.
When I say homegrown it is with the highest regard. For they have had the privilege to be born and raised here and have chosen to stay.
The Fundie remark has some truth to it but then the District was trying to find a home for a program they wanted to promote and HD Stafford was also asked. The sad thing is no one wanted to share for the belief was that a dual track in one school would not work and neither party was willing to compromise. What happened then because the board was committed to the program, I believe it was Mr. Hall a Trustee at the time who suggested the purchase of the new property. This was to further his beliefs that the current Secondary schools should have time to reinvent themselves. The problem now is one has and one hasn’t had the time to build their Trades programs nor do they have the population to support the choice programs. So in reality who is to blame? My answer no one. A mistake was made and now the present board is left to deal with it. This may be why the Chair has shown such angst towards this past Trustee for his disruptive behavior.

The meeting ended on a very bad note, I was there to the end with my 9 year old daughter who attends (and loves) Blacklock Fine Arts, my son who is in grade 12 @ Stafford and my husband. I knew with all the emotions running through the room it was bound to explode, the air was charged. The first motion to amend the agenda being shot down by the "four" trustees should have been enough for us all to walk out, but there was still hope they had heard some of what we had all written, said, published.... alas not. My husband and I commented on all of the trustee's speeches (for lack of a better term) some very much community in spirit, the "three" had speeches that were very much about themselves, "I've done this, I've done that, I've listend" I kept thinking, well if they were listening where are the answers to all the questions concerned people have put forth to them?? No answer's just more about "me, me me" was pretty typical of how things have gone since February. Sad state of affairs in Langley, a city of 20,000 + with a casino but no high school. I will be looking into alternative education outside of the public system for my daughter, I will not put the pressure of being the role model in her elementary school at the ripe old age of 10, I and will NOT add her to the warehouse of children in a over crowded middle school.

Was Langley School district senior administration which is led by Superintendent Beaumont also the driving force to get the Fundies what they wanted? 3.5 years. But Millions went to that elite group for their education&buildings. Wow. And they have less students in their High School than Stafford does?? So what gives? The Stafford High school has been a hot item. Why not just leave it to it's rightful owners. The ones who have nurtured it and put it on the successful map.The current teachers/students/admin&parents.God Bless this school district as we ONCE knew it.Bye,Bye-Hello disaster!
