Plumping the vote is exactly what we all should do to not cancel out our list of preferred candidates chances of winning.

I'm voting only Beck, Pona, Johnson and Shepherd for School Board and Green for Mayor and only Richter, Long, Tomblin and Jones for council. I'm voting for change.

LFP photographer Bob Richter will be at CLA Wednesday taking pictures and videos to post on LFP re the school board trustees debate. If you have any more interesting rumours of substance that you want to anonymously or otherwise have published on LFP, feed them to Bob Wednesday night. He will be the guy with the camera on a tripod! Or just email me, LFP Editor, your tips at LFP.

BTW, we are planning to give the uniquely rare, valuable & much coveted "LFP RUMOUR MILL" hats away to those that give us the best newstips and rumours about the who's who and politics in the Langleys! This Editor is ordering a few baseball caps that will have the "LFP RUMOUR MILL" crest prominently attached to it's front. The sample looks real cool! The logo is as shown on this posting under the headline. So send us your good material for publication on LFP, anonymity guaranteed if you so wish, and you could be a proud recipient of the first and rare "LFP RUMOUR MILL" baseball cap! It looks similar to the CIA logo caps.

The Langley mayors should keep their big noses out of school board politics. They should worry much more about our municipalities especially reducing our high annual property tax increases they force on us each year and stop their spending on their personal monuments! Butt out of Schools and stop the battle of the mayors for political control and influence.

I too am voting for change, and plumping the vote.
RICHTER, TOMBLIN, LONG, SHEEL
The Alberts led Council & Burton led School Board connection and most probably Slates, have made plenty of harmful political decisions in my opinion. Their expiry date is due.
Please! Please! Please! angry school board members don't do half the job, lets make some real changes in this community.

I noticed the cluster of signs indicates a slate. Take notice next time your drivivng around, McVeigh, Burton and gang in one corner; then Pona,Johnson and gang in the other. Should be interesting. I agree lets change council. I'm voting for Long, Tomblin, Richter and Kositsky for sure but I don't really know who else. Any suggestions?

I love your blog keep up the good work, I've learned alot, but I do have a question. What is plumping the vote? Is it effective?

Gravatar Plumping the vote is not voting for 8 councillor's if you don't like 'em. Only vote for the councillor's of your choice. Why vote for someone you don't want just to make 8? Many individuals are under the impression that they have to vote for 8 or their vote isn't valid, hence they fill in names that they don't really want. Too bad.

Gravatar I liked your article. I am truly an independent candidate.

Mike

Edited Comment By Siteowner - TY Mike. Bring up our post at the debate Wednesday. Even though this month again breaks every record of views we have ever had since 3 years (our anniversary is actually December 17) we can always use more local viewers. With 3 days to go this month our hits on LFP have broken 12,000 for the first time ever. Again depending on the article, day and week our local viewership still hits between 65% and 75%. The local readers is who we try to provide the real inside scoop that you don't hear or read in the alternative site nor the local media. Phenomenal! Again Thanks folks! And thanks Mike. Good luck to you. LFP EDITOR ( By the way folks Mike Parker is running as a new trustee candidate in Langley)

Gravatar Well Done Editor and Kim. Your website is truly unique, refreshing and simply identifies all the dots and then connects them with very logical lines that are not seen by us because no one else dares tell the real story because they are all trying to hide the real story or not report it. The self serving others are all feeding off of each other purely for self promotion and then feed us, the public, manure and keep us in the dark. Well said and well done Langley Free Press. Please keep it up guys & gal(s).

Gravatar Thank you LEAP for adding LFP as your source of the candidates list. Much appreciated.

Oh, by the way good luck to you guys too. This Editor just loves passion and commitment which you guys just obviously exude! I especially like that you guys were fair in promoting the plumping of your 4 but also in fairness left the 3 independents as additional choices to select.Well done guys, very professional politics indeed! ( LEAP used our complete formatted list of municipal candidates and since I brought it up they have now altered their website to give us credit for their use of our charts. They marked their preferences on our base list. Again thank you for crediting us as your source and linking to LFP.) See their website at:

Gravatar Just read your article I am still Laughing can hardly type. GOOD ONE. I believe you have exposed the underbelly of the Langley's. It makes it all the more clearer that amalgamation is a must before the next election in 2011 or is it 10? I would be willing to assist.I could write a book on this when it is over on how canadian politics works.

Gravatar Did anyone notice that School Trustee chair Steve Burton has put up election signs? I don't think he ever did before at least not as many as this time. Is he worried this time? Why?

Edited Comment By Siteowner - Never mind just Mr. Burton's signs, look at the ton of all the school board trustee candidates signs this time. Occasionally a rare township councillor candidate's sign is hidden within the plethora of trustee signs! As I said this 2008 municipal election is all about the school board and the overflow may have a very small effect on the council outcome. Their middle school initiative has riled up the normally dormant minivan soccer moms unlike never before. Bad move guys!

It's similar to the Township's water metering attempt that ALL, I repeat, ALL the Township Mayor and council were planning to breeze thru and adopt it right before Christmas, an age old political slight of hand trick, before the rural residents uprising and firestorm hit them hard. The Mayor Alberts "good Ole boy's Club Slate" however reversed themselves immediately and cut their losses unlike the school board. The funny thing is how they all are now trying to say that they were never on board for water meters! Ha...what a laugh!

This Editor is telling you the straight facts and that is just pure Bullshit! It was a reversal folks, pure and simple! Councillor Kim Richter is the only one that rang the water initiative alarm bells early on, even right here on LFP (read our archives), about the dangers of the provincial water board effects. Now the Mayor Alberts "Good Ole boy's Club Slate" have suddenly become staunch defenders against water meters. What pure BS!

When will politicians simply admit they made a mistake and apologize instead of their attempts to rewrite history? But then the Mayor Alberts "Good Ole boy's Club Slate" have always rewritten history. Look at the fiasco of the $3-4-5-6-7 & Climbing" grandstand fiasco in our archives as well. LFP EDITOR

Gravatar Think Stevie might be worried this time around?

Gravatar When Alberts loses to Rick Green on November 15th and he will, you will have to change the baseball cap logo on your new hats. I suggest you wait until then because I assume that the cap initials, O.B.C stands for Ole Boy's Club and A.S.S. probably stands for Alberts Silent Slate. I really like the A.S.S. one. If I am right on these do I get one of these caps?

Edited Comment By Siteowner - Good guesses. Actually when I designed it first based on the C.I.A. crest i was pondering whether to add small white eagle droppings on both sides but then they would have fallen on O.B.C. & A.S.S. . Hmm... Maybe I should have, it's not too late to add this . LOL LFP EDITOR

Gravatar Councillor Bateman on his website again reports on the most important news in Langley from his point of view! The flowing tributes heaved on him by his seemingly new found ally, supporter and Langley press agent, the Times Editor. How refreshing that Langley Free Press provides the most substantial political red meat that makes one think about whats really going on like this about the school board slates. No wonder that the same Times Editor again try's to seemingly slam Councillor Richter in the very same Editorial as I' have noticed before. On one hand Mr. Bucholtz says this of Richter: "Richter has often been a voice in the wilderness, decrying the decision of the majority" in what I think is a slam and then on the other hand says this of Bateman as a compliment: "Jordan Bateman ........(who) served one term) came up with more unique suggestions, something that.(he).. have done throughout... (his) terms on council. ...(he) don’t seem afraid to bring up ideas, even if they get shot down." Yet when Richter does this she is "a voice in the wilderness, decrying the decision of the majority". How obviously one sided and biased can anyone be? Just because she refuses to be a member of the Alberts/Bateman slate?

Edited Comment By Siteowner - I like shameless Murray! No problem Murray & best of luck on your campaign. Any other candidates who want to comment leaving their websites and email addresses including any message are welcome to do so. I may even aggregate them latter together. Murray is the new Councillor candidate running in Langley Township. - LFP EDITOR

Gravatar To ROFLOL SS re: your previous comment - Thanks Susan Semonick or rather SS, hope you reverse your LFP retirement decision real soon. It's real lonely on the school beat without you. See the trouble I'm getting in without you! LOL

Gravatar Regarding Bateman's comment about Times Editor Bucholtz praising him all I can say is look at his mirror website, Me..Me..Me..Me..Me..Me..

Gravatar Mirror, Mirror, on the web, who's the fairest in the land?

Edited Comment By Siteowner - LOL - You deserve an LFP baseball cap! - EDITOR

Gravatar I believe Frank's comments are valid and we do see leadership from Fox and Bateman. Much better than a lone voice in the wilderness. Where is the list of accomplishments? Nothing gets seconder and therefore nothing gets done. It seems that those that serve more than a couple of terms get stale and don't put much effort into things, with a few minor exceptions like Grant Ward. At least he will meet with you on the issues. You won't catch Kositsky doing that. Richter is good at playing up to those citizens that object to anything. That's not leadership.

Gravatar Grant Ward????You must be nuts, he's the deadest doornail of the whole six pack. Sometimes it seems like he's in a trance up there.

I notice Sheels has got lots and lots of huge signs up. I guess he thinks the size of the sign will make the difference.

Gravatar TWIN CITY PROPOSAL: Langley township should be twinned with the lawless tribal regions of Pakistan and Mogadishu Somalia since the respect for the rule of law is the same in all three. On second thought, my apologies to the lawless tribal regions of Pakistan and the Somali warlords for insulting them by comparing them to Langley Township and it's mayor and council.

Gravatar Queenie: Other candidates profess to "listen", but Grant Ward practices just that. He speaks when he feels it is appropriate and I am very impressed with his grasp and indepth knowledge of the issues at hand before council. If you took the time to meet with these candidates one on one, you would see the quality we get from people like Grant Ward. Bateman and Fox get slammed here all the time, but it is interesting that the people that cast these stones never call these men or meet them face to face to discuss issues that these complainers consider to be "important issues". I guess if you are a chronic Negative Nancy then it is much easier to post your poison here and not engage your leaders.

Gravatar The 5 KRASH candidates running in the township are now handing out fliers with all five of their names on them, it also says they are "independent" candidates. So their slate has officially gone public. I wonder though how they can even claim to be independent when they are running together.

Also, I would really love if someone could post the RASH 4's answer to the directed question at last nights meeting about how they responded to being asked about each of their special interest groups (their children's schools). I found it frustrating that they never really answer any questions.

Gravatar J Check out our latest posting of Rod Ross's "group of five" ad! They used to be nicknamed a group of 4. Are they just trying to confuse everyone? LOL!

Gravatar Here you go J: (I think I got it right):
Hattie - if there had been a middle school around when my son was in grade 6, we would have gone anywhere in the district to attend it. (absolutely irrelevant to the question)
Rod Ross - the fundies were leaving the district in droves!! (yeah, all 40 of them so they spent $13 MILL to keep them and sent over 100 packing - but they werent fundie kids so it doesnt matter)
Burton - Poppy will be reviewed next
McVeigh - we moved the few french immersion kids at LSS to Brookswood - but if we had decided to do the opposite, I think my daughter would have chosen to switch to LSS (nice that HER daughter would have still had a choice!)
Somebody please correct me if I missed something.

Gravatar Yeah, that about sums it up. My point was they all really side stepped the question in how they can say that they don't cater to special interests, yet they each have their own and amalzingly none of their children have had to feel the result of ANY of the hard decisions, rather they have benefited from decisions that now negatively affect the entire district.

Gravatar I agree - voting only for those who I know will make a change. Tomblin, Long, and Richter all the way.

Gravatar J,
Apparently LSS is leaking. I have not had the opportunity to see it for myself, but I'm hearing that the new dancefloor is being rained on, the ceiling is leaking outside the gym (castle?) and there are buckets in the hallways....
These are just rumors, but I wouldn't be surprised.
The RASH4 and Medos (5) wanted to jam all of our kids into this building to save it.....but it is still falling apart.
This is so they could build beautiful new schools for the new taxpayers on the Willoughby slope. But what about us "old" taxpayers. Don't our kids deserve a proper school as well?

Gravatar Did you catch burton and mcveigh's comments at the last all candidate's meeting? In response to questions about the overcrowding at LSS, they say 'give it a few years' and the enrolment will be lower at LSS'. What the @!%^* do they think about the kids that are there now?! How can they just right them off? They can't even fill their schedule because the classes are all too full.

Gravatar I was talking with a couple other parents about the 59 new courses offered at LSS, not that anyone at LSS would probably admit it, but I have heard that even if you count the extra regular classes, like an additional math 10 or english, etc. There is NOT a total increases in courses even close to 59. I would for someone with a little bit of proof to bring this up with Burton as the LTA all candidates meeting this Wednesday, although I have heard a rumour that he probably wont show up because of who is hosting it.

Edited By Siteowner

Gravatar I can confirm that when it rains, there is a leak in the new dance facility.

Gravatar Do you know anything about the Health Department being there on Monday? Apparently there is now a strong stench of fecal matter in one of the wings.

Gravatar That stench in the school was there last year as well.........
why did Kari Medo's who was the PAC president of LSS not do anything about the disrepair of the school? If she were elected would she be as ineffectual as a trustee, as she was in my opinion, in her years as prez at LSS? After all, we should all care about the students and their health?
Why did the roof of the Fundie elementary school get fixed but not the LSS roof that has leaked for a long time??
