Just when I think I have a pretty decent vocabulary, you come up with a word like "verisimilitude." I'm off to find a dictionary...
Rob, I've so enjoyed your blog (both this one and Mr. Steadfast) this past year. You've helped me grow tremendously in my knowledge of scripture and helped me put into my own words the workings of my faith. I thank you for that and I thank God that he crossed our paths this year out in cyberspace.
Thanks for all you've taught me this year, not only about God and His truth, but also about myself.

That's funny. Strange we try to do things right--but we remember only the mistakes and the problems. It's true of weddings too--the things that make weddings memorable are not those things that make perfection it is the mistakes--those things that seem horrible at first but 10 years later make for warm memories.
Thank God for the grace which turns things from bad to good.

Your post made me laugh until tears were streaming down my face.
"ritualized homage to 1st century squalor"--I love that line the best.

I loved this story!! Thanks for sharing it. Since I am a student of language use and vocabulary, I enjoy your posts from that standpoint as well. You make some precise word choices which highlight the reading for me.
