Great insights, Bob. I just read something from a blogger who hasn't gotten this message yet. He knows exactly what this one disputed verse of Scripture means, despite other plausible exegetical explanations.
But I get that way too...especially with people who don't know much Scripture at all. It's that need to show someone the Truth (and the fact that I know it) that rears its ugly head too often.

Well said, Bob. I keep trying to remind myself of those same points every day. No ONE man's opinion will ever the be all/end all answer for me. They can guide and direct me but until the good Lord tells me in person, my mind is staying OPEN.

Rev-Ed, I know what you mean. We have to remember, we can't make everything right simply by the fervor with which we hold our opinions. Even when we ARE right, we're better off gently nudging someone in the direction of the truth rather than slapping down their mistaken ideas with righteous fervor or something.
Heyjules, your attitutde is right on. There is simply no other way to receive (that is, to learn) than to open one's mind to other possibilities.
In many cases I believe what I believe very strongly. I'm quite sure of myself. But I must have a listening and receptive attitude, as of one needing to learn, needing to know more, needing to grow in understanding, not of the "wise man" who has already arrived at perfect understanding.
