Bonnie, I introduced my parents to Panera as well. When I went back to the States one year, I took them there. They seemed to have no idea that this delightful sandwich and soup place was just right down the road. I do miss it. I love the one chicken sandwich (cannot think of the name right now). It is made on the foccacia bread.
Sorry to hear about Germany. I know the whole deal must be a disappointment. I have read your European blog and it seemed that you and the family enjoyed it here very much. It looks like I will be here until around the end of 2010, but my husband as it stands now may have to deploy as well in the near future.
By the way, if there is anything that you would like from Germany, I will be glad to try to get it to you.
Oh, Heather, thank you so much for your kind offer! I may take you up on that sometime. In the meantime, just enjoy it all on my behalf, especially the wine and Schnitzel (and Spaghettieiss when summer comes again!). I really hope your husband doesn't have to deploy. Please keep me posted, OK?
