i've been a fan of the wild parrots since seeing them near brooklyn college in 2000. periodically, i see groups in forest park, queens. my inside amazon parrot hears them and gets agitated.

Is that the same parrot that was scared of the night heron?
Actually one of my cooler wildlife encounters when I was up on the North River piece of the Hudson was with a night heron. It was nighttime, and I'd had a rough day at work & was sitting alone on the Manhattan Kayak Company dock unwinding. I was just quietly watching the little fish that were attracted by the lights on the barge when suddenly this little heron came swooping in from the river, landed on the dock just a few feet away from me, and proceeded to fish. I held still until my nose started to itch too much to ignore - I tried to move veeeeerrrrrry slowly to stratch it but the instant I moved a muscle, the heron realized I was there, spooked, and took off.
