How can it be that this great post got no comments. The hand drawn pictures say it all when it comes to the need for concern. My town, Crescent City, suffers its own foolishness, but it is nice to see you Superstars in New York doing your deal. Good luck and thanks.

Thanks, Saltwater Jim. It's always funny what draws comments and what doesn't. The first post after the meeting - the "SoYo" one - actually got a lot of attention. I thought that was a bit of a throwaway (appropriate for a post featuring a garbage can) but of course I'm not the only one who's starting to gag at the runaway cutesy-nickname thing.

Here were the links. The comments got interesting too - Jeremiah's Vanishing New York site, everybody starting throwing out their favorites. I proposed that Honolulu could become HoNo. Crescent City? That's easy - CreCi, pronounced Cressy. Maybe you could even have CreCiNo and CreCiSo...

I'm not one of those old-good, new-bad people - but I do wish that the new could be better thought out, integrated, and respectful of the old than sometimes happens here in NYC.
