Only in New York!!! But we know that's really not Clive Owen. That is me on my way to work at Union Carbide on 47 th and Park in 1960.I certainly was a handsome devil and I had hair back in those days.

I wish I could just post a sign in a public place detailing what everyone present is consenting to (things for my pecuniary benefit) and if they don't like it they should leave.

Now you know the world of the "background actor." It sounds so much better than "extra" even if it really requires virtually no acting talent.
And we get a lot of that here in L.A. where I have been doing "background" work since retiring a couple of years ago. I enjoy it. But then again I have a high tolerance for standing around waiting to do very little AND a seemingly endless collection of books to be read. :~D

oohhh... famous people... ooeer, don't recognize him. film makers have a harder time in glasgow, everybody ignores them and just gets on with their lives. i'm always too busy to stop and watch.

Sounds cool!
They were shooting an episode of TV soap "The Bill" nearby my apartments while I'm away but we got a note warning us that the actors would be in police uniform and holding (fake) guns as the scene involved armed hostage takers in a restaurant (or something).
As armed police is still a rare event (luckily) there would be real policemen there (without guns) to reassure us

I can't believe nobody's commented on my beautiful picture of a brant's posterior!
Claire, OK, truth be known, I didn't know who Clive was either (I like the occasional movie but I don't really keep up on stars) but based on the squeals from a couple young ladies who were watching with me when he appeared, and the HUGE spike in my hits yesterday, I did get curious enough to google. He's a British actor, has gotten some very good reviews & apparently in the opinion of the British public would have been a very popular choice for the next James Bond.
One thing I do have to say - watching the amount of time & money that went into getting one one-minute shot - suddenly ten bucks for a movie ticket doesn't seem like a bad deal!

Hilarious entry!
I'm actually checking it out after your entry on my blog (re: candid photography ) and I also coulda used that sign you referenced! It's so interesting to me the range of reactions I get when I've failed and people notice me standing there pointing a camera at them. But I take it this is not a new conflict at Grand Central.
So on a side note, you are a paddler (secret e-handshake attached)! Ever make out to the western Great Lakes?
