I have a definate opinion of Winifred just based on your described conversation, but seeing as how this is your family I think I'd probably better keep it to myself.
I have started my comment at least 7 times and erase it and start again. I guess all I can say is that this girl is truly clueless and for the babies sake I hope that you and your wife can be a big part of this babies life. Maybe not so much financially but morally. I don't mean morally as in "thou shalt not...." but just be there to try and show this child another side of life, one that he/she will undoubtedly never see with this family. Try to stop the pattern that I see forming. I see welfare raising welfare. I could go on and on and want to but I guess I better get off my soap box and let others up there. I know they want to. Poor baby.

Of course you're being judgmental, but not wrongly so. We all have to judge every bit of information we receive. "Winifred's" point of view is wrong in so many ways, but the most immediate is that she thinks she'll be supported by the father just because she thinks should be. So he owes her. You can't squeeze water from a stone.
I guess you already said all that, though.
I was put up for adoption because my birth mother cared enough to get me out of her then rotten life environment.
I found her later and thanked her deeply for her sacrifice.
My upbringing wasnt perfect but I appreciate the fact she loved me enough to try and give me better.
So many people wish to adopt babies--and yet we see young girls like Win make terrible decisions in regards to a life they bring into this world.
Knowing you, you are going to let this weigh very heavy on you. Just remember that there is only so much you can do for someone who is not listening.
For the babies sake, I hope she learns as she gets closer that she has better options for the innocent life.
