Gravatar Loved this weeks podcast. I adored The Shadow of the Wind, it's a great book.
The Sister and The Eyre Affair are now on my TBR list, thanks for the recommendations.

Gravatar glad you liked it! we love when we can add to someone's TBR pile!!

Gravatar Thank you both for another great podcast. The Shadow of the Wind is a wonderful read, and I also have The Sex Lives of Cannibals in the stack of books that are waiting in line for my attention. I don't really change my reading habits for the Summer Season, but I do tend to read mystery or SF books when on vacation.
However as the first full day of summer starts today, I will be heading out to find a copy of Great Expectations by Mr. Dickens. I can't stop thinking about it after reading (your earlier book suggestion) Mr. Pip.

Gravatar Thanks for your very kind words, Tom, and for letting us know that you've read something we recommended. That's the biggest thrill, really. I love Great Expectations and do believe that it would make a great read this summer.

Thanks!
Ann

Gravatar Just had a chance to listen to the podcast. Another great job. I don't change my reading habits in the summer because my work schedule doesn't change. But I did when I was in high school and college. I remember one summer in high school reading John Jakes' North and South. I tended to read longer books during the summer and stick to shorter Agatha Christie mysteries or fantasy novels during school.

I remember when Eyre Affair came and really wanting to read it. I guess it's time to put it back on the TBR list.

Chris

Gravatar Chris, thanks!! I remember those John Jakes books! I think I read North and South in high school as well.

My summer reading in high school was whatever mass market paperbacks were carried at the grocery store at the end of our neighborhood -- Harold Robbins, Sidney Sheldon ... the store was across the street from the local swimming pool, so I'd buy a book and sit at the pool and read all day. I was a fast reader, so I always went for the fattest novels.

Thanks for giving me those memories!

Gravatar I want to recommend another tie-in read with Great Expectations and Mr. Pip. Peter Carey's book Jack Maggs makes a fine tandem experience with Dickens characters and is a bit on the weighty side great for lolling away long summer hours.

Love listening, you guys!

Gravatar Dottie, you rock! That's a *fabulous* recommendation, and I had totally forgotten about it. I love Peter Carey.

Thanks!
Ann

Gravatar great podcast again. Thanks for the recommendations, Dexter especially sounds like fun, I'm going to look that up right now.
