Gravatar I think it depends on what prize... Pulitzer Prize means I don't have to worry that it was an Oprah pick, so go ahead. Nobel prize means it's too literate for me. National Book Award is usually just right.

The little sticker on the front page of any book is always a little extra sell for me, I suppose.

Gravatar Carolyn, I think I agree with you. What about the Booker? I tend to love the Pulitzer Fiction winners, and many of the Booker prize winners, but not all.

Gravatar Hi,

I am more inclined to read a book if it has won a prize.. but I am often disappointed once finished. I think my expectations are much higher for a novel that has won something..and if I don't love it.. then I usually feel as if "I" missed the boat or its intellect passed me by.

Ti
