"I doubt he’ll get a job picking grapes though"
Negative thinking! His plan seems perfectly workable, to me. (Although, isn't it a bit late in the season? *Sigh* Damn, you're probably right.)
*wanders off, muttering*
His plan is perfectly workable at the macro level, as always its the micro details that fall over. Little things like him not having a working permit, or any contacts in the industry, or... He'll still have a great time though. TB

Hmm, with the luck of the young, he'll probably fall in to something much more fun than picking grapes.
Being 6'3", muscular and rather good looking I suspect he may fall into many more fun things... TB

Is he self-confident about having a go at new things? I wasn't, at that age; I used to envy my acquaintances who were apparently totally gung-ho about doing anything, but now I wonder if some of them were more nervous than they appeared, especially the blokes. And I know someone fully adult and living in Kent who still doesn't go into London alone basically because it's too frightening. Not because they're frightened they'll get mugged, but because they might get lost or ripped off or generally do something silly and have people looking at them.
He has the basic family shyness that seems in the genes, but overall is pretty self confident. It appears more of an organisation and energy thing. Much easy to put your feet up than go out and walk all day, especially if it spends money! TB

I'm similar to your nephew (aside from the fact that I have breasts..)in that I'm moving to London in 2 weeks and all i know is that I'm staying in a hostel and it's been booked.
At times I think I'm being really adventurous and other times I just think I'm insane.
Hey Celeste, there's no insanity there. Its the right move for you. Take the plunge and see where you wash up. TB
