The Boy on Top

Gravatar What makes it worse is that the original studies suggested that seat belts only work for those of us over 1.5m.

What hasn't been talked about is changing seat belt design for passengers in the rear with a central strap, which stops them sliding underneath the lap belt.

Gravatar Of course, seat belts do work if you're under 1.5m it's just that you're more likely to get injured.

I know, its just one of the things, that a correct change to the law, making manufacturors change the design of belts, would be effective. This nonsense of car seats does nothing. TB

Gravatar Actually, Boy, you're OK. I refer you to this bit of information, which basically states that Pirate Pete (assuming he's your eldest/tallest) is allowed to go seatless if you can't fit a third child seat in the car.

Yes, which means I won't get fined, its jus tthe principle. I hate using exceptions to bypass laws, even if I disagree with the law. But thank you. TB

Gravatar I so feel for you guys. That is a stupid law. I think govenments should put pressure on car companies to make adjustable seatbelts.

Gravatar Yes I have this on my mind - but try and get Nathan back into a seat at the age of 9! Ha! he's having none of it. And I WILL have to 'lay down the law' and get tough with him but as you said...why? He's 1.30m so technically he has to have the booster seat - but he's way too solidly built to fit into it. So silly.

Rediculous isn't it? I want my kids safe, and think we manage that. Goverment intrusion has its place, but this isn't one of them. TB

Gravatar They've got the same kind of silliness here. Of course, my 12-yr-old is taller than some adults we know, and has been since she was 10!

I stopped after 4-5 years old, as our back seat belts have this little thingy that lowers their angle (or whatever) so that it won't choke a short person (aka, kid).

Gravatar You could always put them in the trunk...

When is English not Enlgish? I can only do that back home, here I have to put them in the boot. Go figure. I have actively considered it though, would muffle the ever present back seat noise... TB

Gravatar Or in the luggage rack on the top?

Nah, don't have a luggage rack. Would have to go out and buy one, though that might be cheaper than a new car... TB

Gravatar Make 'em walk.

Oh we do, we do. TB

Gravatar Ponies! That's what you need! That'll be much safer!

Tried that, but they messed up the garage. TB
