The Boy on Top

Gravatar And, I suppose, the bollocking you might give to the person who didn't keep you informed no longer carries the weight it used to.

It's not a bad thing, though it hurts somewhat, to see that things will carry on as normal after one has left. It keeps one more grounded and realistic for one thing, and it can help keep a sense of perspective and a better work/life balance.

I spent two years easing myself out of a (voluntary) job where, three years previously, I had been all too 'indispensible' (yeah, sure, I could have dropped dead, but the previous incumbent had done that, which was why it got messy and they needed me). I wanted to have done my job so well that my leaving it would not be noticed. But I'll admit to a small pang when, in practical terms, it wasn't.

Oddly enough I pride myself on going in to an organisation on having an end goal of NOT being indispensible. If I don't do that, I can never leave, and I get bored with jobs, so always like to be able to move on. Still, emotions are what they are, and it twinges a bit... TB

Gravatar In spite of your eloqent words, you leave or stay on what you feel. Sorry to be so commom, but do what you feel Boy...Cheers!!

Yeah, but contractually I have to stay until at worst mid August. Employement law is a bit twisted in Jolly Old England... TB

Gravatar I know you! You're one of those who takes pride in his job; can't help be somewhat defined by what you do and how well you do it. So even on your way out your compelled to do a good job. I'm like that too. x, c

What makes it frustrating is not being able to do a good job, despite best intentions. Such is life though. TB

Gravatar All I can say is I know how you feel. I also know that when I resign my motivation to go to work completely disappears and it is hard to continue doing my best until the last day.

Yeah, motivation is an issue. Hard to keep focused, especially when I've put in quite the hours and effort I have over the past year. TB

Gravatar Put yer feet up n chill man

I do that n I haven't resigned!!

Did that this weekend, and it was fine! TB
