How ironic Boy. I posted about my late father because today would have been his 86th birthday. Treasure the good memories and learn from the bad. Cheers my friend.
Just read your post before checking my comments! It must be fathers day upstairs... TB

I don't think one the influence of our parents ever leaves us, however long ago they died and however old we become. I can't say my father still lives in my mind, I wish he did but it was too long ago and his presence is only with me fleetingly. I feel for you and I'm glad you have some good memories to draw on.
Oh I do, many of them. Rereading my post it came across very negative, and that wasn't my frame of mind at all. His memory is still fresh, though starting to fade. Such is life. TB

Being a father to your kids is much more important than being a friend to them. You're doing great. And if you share the good stories about your dad with your kids, he'll live in in them, even if they never met him.

I was much more negative in this post than I'd been thinking or feeling at the time. May have to repost at some point.
My father was 90% great. Particualrly as I aged we got along really well, and I have bright and shiny memories as a child of us doing things together. Its that dad, the one of good memories that I miss so terribly much.
