The Boy on Top

Gravatar Tilly the dog caught and despatched two young rabbits the other week. She was very proud.

We used to get overrun every few years but when that happened there would be a (very upsetting to see) outbreak of myxomatosis. Nowadays, there are foxes around and they keep the population in check.

We've had myxomatosis over the years as well. Not at all pleasent. We have foxes about to, but the wabbits are very good at outgrowing their culling... TB

Gravatar If you've never seen the Jasper Carrot annimated sketch were he has a problem with moles, go and watch it immediatley!

Gravatar Indeed they are cute, but you are correct, they become much less cute when one's garden starts to disappear. Cheers!!

Gravatar Here's what we use in our hav-a-heart traps: A quarter of an apple, spread with peanut butter. Those wascals looooooooooove it. We also cover the trap with some carboard and branches (so it looks all nice and dark and safe) and fill a spray bottle with apple juice, and spray the cardboard and the trap with it.

Unfortunately, our dog also loves peanut butter, and we've had to release Zephyr from the trap several times (who knows how she squeezes herself into that cage?)

Well, we don't have a dog, so will definately try this! TB

Gravatar Pardon my intruding, but I'd just like to say that the old-fashioned dish of Rabbit Pie is delicious, easy to make and very nutritious!
