Funny you should mention that about your builders; the American author of another UK blog I read is having big construction done on her home this year, and she was shocked to realize a few weeks ago that her all-English building crew -- who were so nice, so responsible, so diligent -- were Neo-Nazis (BNP? National Front?). And this freaked her out.

Wow!! You're a busy man at the moment! What is it you're building exactly (I do apologise, my lapse from the blogsphere probably means I've missed this episode completely).
Putting an extention on the side of the house, plus lots of green additions like rainwater harvesting and geothermal heating.

Nah, ours isn't nearly elegent enough to even get a look in. We had to make comprimises to get it past the planning authorities. We're going to have a large swathe of flat roof which is not hugely sympathetic to the origional design of the house. Still, its been fun! TB
They could have tidied out that hole though.....

I don't expect perfection while they're working. It was in good shape when they left for the weekend though. TB
Back in the day, if there was a hole and it was all looking a bit bomb-site ish, someone would be bound to quote 'Well, if you knows of a better 'ole..." Hope the rain hasn't been holding you up too much.
English and they don't break for tea???? Get 'em in the union!!!!!
