That you knew it was coming doesn't make it any easier. I can see how the change of care need would affect her, though. And it's kind of sweet that her biggest concern was that you'd think she was being disloyal!
Enjoy the weekend. Don't worry too much, my experience is that child care issues do get sorted out. Often serendipitously!
I actually didn't see it coming. Well, not this way any way! Still, having started to think it through, it will work out. The stress will be in finding a new solution in the right time. Our jobs just can't let us be without childcare for long. It might be granny to the rescue if it all doesn't work out.
I know we'll find a good solution, its just all in the timing. TB

Nothing sounds like it could be more important that LL's happiness re children, I know that's what I'd be like and I can totally understand her worrying about what you'd think in all this too - I freak out privately about sacking our cleaner, I only have two housemates who I owe nothing to emotionally and yet I worry they'll perceive me as Sandra Bullock in Crash, i.e heartless and dictatorial - not to mention what the cleaner thinks despite doing a shit job!
Hope you find a good replacement / better position for a better person
Hiya. There's something about it being in your home that makes it all much more up close and personal. In my job I'm dealing with people's careers all the time, that's all just part of the job. This is just that bit more stressful though. LL's happiness around this kids is key though. I think she'll actually take this as good news, though the timing isn't of our choosing. Ah well. TB

I hope LL doesn't mind that Nanny spoke to you first - you'd be a most tactful go-between, so I can see why she did. I also hope that it will feel like a difficult situation resolving itself and that the atmosphere will relax for her last few weeks.
She'll never find another job where she gets to drive the boss's BMW while he uses the Smart car, though.
LL, in her own indomitable style, raised an eye brow, but didn't go down the road as to why she spoke to me first. She's quite happy to let me do the negotiation. It does feel like a difficult situation resolving, though I'll be sorry personally to see the relationship end. TB

Nanny's?? Housekeepers??
You are obviously inordinately wealthy and, as I was adopted, will almost certainly turn out to be my long lost brother. Therefore, a couple of mill would sort your long lost bro out.
Seems reasonable to me
Felt the same this week. Three days and I'm absolutely knackered.
I always knew I had a brother out there. I just grew up with three sisters. Can't really help with a couple spare mill I'm afraid. Well off we may be, inordinately wealthy we are not. Sadly. I could stand you a pint though! TB

Sounds like you need a 50 year old nanna from the village who loves baking apple pies and has got nothing else to do with her time. Good luck in the hunt for a replacement. There is no price on LL's happiness so this change will be a good one.
You know, that's exactly what we're checking out first. A big ask though, so we'll see. Right now we're going to check out all alternatives.
Agree totally on LL's happiness. I'll be sorry to see this Nanny go. We will struggle to find someone as flexible. But, and its a big but, she and LL we're starting to rub each other the wrong way. Which, though it wasn't the stated reason, is likely behind her leaving. Now to see what we can find... TB

belated happy birthday Ali! I must admit that from your comments over the last few months the departure of SN wasn't a surprise to me.
Good luck with it all.
Thanks, as said before, all luck gratefully received! TB
