Sounds cool.
Tibet.
Not so cool.
Soz. Tibet isn't your fault mate but business doesn't give a toss. Money is the new God eh?
Management earn a decent wedge and have families to look after so I don't blame management for enjoying the jolly's and keeping themselves safe and gainfully employed.
Just makes me feel a bit sad.
Mind you it does sound impressive.
We're going for a major pay increase this year and the company is pleading poverty.
You know what? I think we'll close them down before we back down.
The gap is widening. Maybe a revolution is really the only way.
Bring me back a number 11 in a doggy bag eh?
Points taken. But at what point do you blame the Chinese people for Tibet, or the Chinese Government? If we boycott anything Chinese there wouldn't be much to buy, and in a bizarre way we would only hurt ourselves. I've always had a philosophy of working for change from within, you achieve more and with less pain, but it is slower. China is changing, I'd say the totalitarian givernment has maybe 10 years more before a major shift in style and type of government.
As to the gap widening, it both is and isn't. If you strip out the effect of the super rich, those with worth more than £20m, the gap has actually shrunk considerably. Perception matters though, and perception says different.
And yes, sometimes a strike is the only way.

Oh! That sounds so cool! I've never been to China, or to that side of the world but I am attending a conference in Japan at the end of the summer. We have a banquet dinner at the end. The last time I attended this conference it was in Florence, 3yrs ago. The banquet was just amazing on the terrace of this palace overlooking subtly lit gardens. I'm looking forward to the one in Japan, although I doubt it would be as amazing as the gala you attended in China!!
Don't be so sure, the Japanese have an ability to throw really exquisite events. Enjoy! TB
