The Boy on Top

Gravatar Caz : French stick (don't ask)
Jax : Chocolate
Me : Owt vaguely edible

Gravatar Mashed potatoes. With little ponds of melted butter. Mmmmmmm.

When I was 15 and had a terrible migraine, I *loved* my parents' chiropractor, because he said I should eat as much mashed potatoes as I wanted!

For a migraine? Never heard that before, but what a lovely cure! My kids like mashed potatoes & carrots mixed with butter and cream. Decadent, but oh so very good. A little pool of butter on the top? As you say, Mmmmm... TB

Gravatar Risotto, but the making of it is as comforting as the eating. Maybe more so.

I love risotto, but have yet to try making it. Its on the list of dishes to master, so perhaps this winter its time to try! TB

Gravatar Comfort food would be spaghetti sauce with sausage and beef and onions and garlic and tons of parmesan cheese!

Ah yes, nothing like a good pasta. My wife doesn't like tomatoe sauses much, so I don't get to eat this as much as I like. In younger times this was a weekly staple. TB

Gravatar Awww I though I was the only person in the whole wide world to like smoked haddock!

Sorry, you've got competition! TB

Gravatar I can't abide custard, in any form (actually that's a lie, I occasionally fancy a spoonful (literally) if I have any kind of pie pudding - which is rare in itself), and cannot possibly imagine custard and fish!

For me, mash potatoes with salt, cheese and plenty of butter will always be the food of the gods.

Don't knock it until you try it. Its savoury, not sweet, no sugar added. Baked custard is miles different from the pudding sauce. I do admit though, mash with cheese sits pretty high up there as comfort fodder. TB
