I went straight to 1843, the year my great-great-great grandfather was Lord Mayor, and found him. Well, well.
Its a real gem. Literally tens of millions of articles. The quality of the text is variable, but it was done automatically off the scans of old printed paper, so is pretty amasing given all that. TB

Uhoh. Sounds like another glorious place where I can lose myself! Adieu!
Yup, very easy to loose yourself there. I did some surfing and found an hour gone before I'd noticed. TB

Absolutely great, and ideal for e.g. family tree research. I think I know how I'll be spending this weekend!

I found my own engagement announcement, too. I've been having so much fun looking for the family that I haven't got around to looking for the as-it-happened historical things yet, but I will...
What fun! Its quite the thing, I can loose hours surfing through what's in there. TB
