The Boy on Top

two of my sister-in-laws are in education. One is a primary school teacher in the midlands and one is a trainee are teacher in one of the better Surrey areas.

Both are equally committed but the primary school teacher has to deal with a level of depravation unknow in the other's borough of Surrey. She also has to deal with a far wider ethnic diversity and many who do not speak English as a first language.

But what get's them both is the constant inspections and lesson planning. Both, at times have been stressed about their job.

On the other hand a friend who is a teacher only does supply teaching now as she can teach and not worry about the paper work.

Both my S-i-L's are struggling to cope on the wages of a teacher though.

Whilst I can't, as yet, afford private schooling, I live very close to two of the best primary schools in West Sussex. It was a big factor in the purchase of our house.

It is a very thought provoking subject though.

It gets me worked up a lot. The poor teachers get it at both ends, unruly children, and massive paperwork and central direction. TB

Gravatar We have the smae problems over here Boy. In fact in some cities near me only half the kids graduate from High School. Sad.

Very sad. Its a real inditement on our society. TB

Gravatar This is England in the 21st Century.

All the more reason to be angry about it. We're one of the richest nations on Earth for fuck's sake. It soundn't aught to be. TB
