I'm pleased that it has continued, hopefully to instill some good kindly virtues in our children. Glad the little one had fun and did good!
Oh I'm sure it will, most important is that he had fun. TB

Perhaps when he is older he may be involved in the Duke of Edinburough scheme. Our children's school organises this for us - it begins at age fifteen (bronze badge) and continues through to age 18. Any who achieve a gold are automatically invited to Buckingham Palace. It involves camping, back packing (usually abroad - Canada, last year) and navigation, as well as serving the community in some fashion on a voluntary basis. My eldest completed his bronze last year, and had a whale of a time. He can't wait to get his silver.
Yeah, the senior school he'll likely go to makes all the boys do either Explorers, Cadets or DoE. We shall see which he does. Wish DoE had been around in Canada, looks like great fun. TB

Oh that is fabulous!
I grew up in a home where Scouts was de rigeur...my Dad was a Scoutmaster, both my brothers became masters too....and now Nathan is a Cub as well and he just loves it! So so good for boys, I agree. And for girls...well I did the brownies and girl guides and loved them both...fantastic stuff for kids and teenagers.
Yup, that it is. Is Fabien going jump in as well? TB

I was a Brownie for a year (precursor to a Girl Scout in the USA), but my family moved so much that it only lasted a year before we picked up and went to another state ... and I so loved the uniform!
What a shame. Brownies are here too. Absolutely a gas for the kids. TB

Yes, you have to love these traditions. Good wholesome out of school activities. Y attended Beavers, Cubs, Scouts until he was 13, and only then dropped out because the pack was rubbish! X has just moved up from Rainbows to Brownies, and is loving it.
Its funny though, when Y was in Scouts there were nearly as many boys as girls nowadays - yet you never see any boys in Brownies...!
Yup, there's some girls in this new Cub troop, but I would bet a fair bit of money you don't find any boys in the Brownies. Just why do you think that is? TB

I don't know about Fabien...he'd wreak havoc and break all the rules. Might be just what he needs but it's not my call anymore.
Of course its still your call (partially, as before). Moving away doesn't abdicate your responsibility as a mother. Besides, might be just the sort of thing he needs. A bit of non parental male discipline can often help bring a boy back in. TB
