Sgt. Anthony Overberg is the only Norwood Police officer ever killed in the line of duty. The killing took place in the building at the southeast corner of Franklin and Courtland. That building is currently vacant and quite possibly for sale. It would be really nice if a group (i.e. Norwood Historical Society, C.O.P.S, WNNA) could start a funding drive to purchase the building. This could be a joint effort with the City of Norwood. After purchase, make the corner into a small grass park with a lone monument to Anthony Overberg in the area where he gave the ulitimate sacrifice for the citizens of Norwood.

The building owner bought it a tax sale for around a thousand dollars and was turned down by the Norwood Zoning Board in her conquest to make it into a rental. Now, she is appealing the decision in Hamilton County Court. I hope she loses and the city tears the eyesore down.

I will buy it for 2 thousand from her so I can have it torn down and make something nice out of it.

There are two other "Overbergs" on the plaque next to the side entrance to City Hall (by the elevator) commemorating WW2 veterans. Does anyone know if they are related?

an ex-norwood police officer has already offered to buy the building and land from the current owner and then donate it at no cost to the city in hopes of turning it into a memorial park. The city, however, refused his offer!!!

No surprise there. The city is barely able to take care of current parks.
