Thank you!
Is there a method to contact you about potential stories for you to post? I have a lead on something that I have not seen published anywhere.

Thank you.
I was beginning to wonder if this was the Norwood Blog or not.
There are great coffee shops in town to have conversations such as those going off topic on this blog.
I have found that opinion is just that and not necessarily truth. I understand racism and marginal living in any given community. Thankfully I have never encountered the police except as a victim.
What people say can be helpful, healing or hurtful. Too many people are crucified by misperception or gossip.
I think if someone set up a Politics & Social Issues blog it would provide the outlet needed during these extremely trying times.
Meanwhile, the news and events posted here are helpful in bringing community awareness.
Thanks.

THANK YOU!!!! The racism, paranoia, and generally aggressive tone of some of these blogs had caused me to stop reading CBN for the most part.

"I think if someone set up a Politics & Social Issues blog it would provide the outlet needed during these extremely trying times."
I have to take Lupe's comment and run with it.
The reason you have so many "off topic" comments is that there is a lot of pent-up anger, concern, irritation and frustration in the minds of Norwood residents on all sides of issues. As far as I know, there is no place (except occasionally the Cincinnati Enquirer) that a citizen can express these feelings in public without fear of reprisal.
Everything is so "PC" these days that a person is scared to death to say anything in public about anything or anybody. That is why you have so many "anonymous" postings. People feel safe in expressing their true feelings here.
Even though I agree that a few of the postings have gone "over the edge" most have not. Instead of making rigid rules and cutting off needed conversation, I would suggest that you monitor the comments (or have someone else in your office do it, if you don't have the time) for the worst of the comments, and either edit or delete those with a note to the poster to tone it down.
Instead of cutting off our only outlet for our feelings, you should make it a welcome place for them.
Thank you

"....The reason you have so many "off topic" comments is that there is a lot of pent-up anger, concern, irritation and frustration in the minds of Norwood residents on all sides of issues.".
You're suggesting that rules need not be followed because people are frustrated? Here's an idea. The moderator of this website has given their address for sending/starting a topic for discussion if you so desire.
Two separate "new Kroger store" blogs were peppered with accusations about the Police, with one posting stating the writer intended to "keep" visiting various blogs to saturate the website with his/her accusations.
I'm glad the moderator of this website is going to erase comments having nothing to do with the topic.
If you're frustrated with City issues,
start a separate blog, run for office, attend council meetings, start your own neighborhood, or move out. Just don't subject the rest of us to your views where they don't belong.

Boy, you sure get upset easily, don't you? I post a very reasonable, calm and rational idea and you jump down my throat about it.
Where's your concern about others?

I agree that many subjects can have a wide lense as viewed by readers. And many different viewpoints are seen by each viewer on each topic.
Unsubstantiated accusations should not be supported.
However...there should be some leeway as to discussing all aspects of how some topics AFFECT people....as some of us may never know unless the discussion is began.

Fred, you wrote, “The reason you have so many "off topic" comments is that there is a lot of pent-up anger, concern, irritation and frustration in the minds of Norwood residents on all sides of issues.”
If you are referring to national issues which we do not intend to blog about, some of us follow them on our favorite national websites and blogs that allow readers to comment. There’s a plethora of both left- and right-leaning sites for people to vent their anger and frustration about national issues, and we frequently join in the discussions. Have you explored some of these venues?
If you are referring to local issues, we welcome comments that express concern and even feelings of anger and frustration so long as there is no name-calling, slander, profanity, and the like. Hot topic blogs like the ones we posted about the proposed St. Aloysius School, the possible closing of the Norwood Health Dept. and the behavior of Xavier students residing in Norwood elicited a lot of heated debate and angry, heart-felt comments. The only comments we deleted were a few we missed about St. Al’s that one of readers pointed out were of the name-calling variety.
You also wrote, “Instead of making rigid rules and cutting off needed conversation, I would suggest that you monitor the comments (or have someone else in your office do it, if you don't have the time) for the worst of the comments, and either edit or delete those with a note to the poster to tone it down.”
We don’t find the rule of staying on topic rigid. It’s a pretty standard rule of the blogs we read. We aren’t going to delete off-topic comments. Instead, we are going to remind people to get back to the topic.
You also wrote, “Everything is so "PC" these days that a person is scared to death to say anything in public about anything or anybody. That is why you have so many "anonymous" postings. People feel safe in expressing their true feelings here.”
Yes, people are perfectly safe in posting their comments here anonymously. We have no idea who reads our blog or comments unless they reveal their identities either in the comment boxes or privately to us. All we ask is that our commenters recognize that we want comments that advance discussions and raise, not lower, the level of discourse.

" ...Where's your concern about others?..."
I detect the "shiifting of blame" so prevelent in our society right now.
It's odd you would want to turn the argument around.
The whole point of this blog - started by the moderator - is one I happen to STRONGLY agree with:
1. If you have something to contribute under a given topic - contribute.
2. If you want to rant and rave about something that is off topic, contact the moderator and start another blog. - Don't BOTHER the rest of us with your gripes when it has nothing to do with the topic.
3. If you have a problem with the Police or other City Department, contact the City about it.
Pretty simple?
There is no "jumping down" your throat. USE COMMON SENSE !!!

I will not be posting, reading, engaging in this site anymore. I get it. I will check in every now and then to read the boring articles and to read the one or two post. White folks in this town can not handle a minority point of view. Even the moderator was under pressure to shut the minority up. Good riddens!!

Dear Citizens For a Better Norwood,
Please go back and re-read my post. I wasn't accusing you of anything. I didn't say you were going to start deleting things. I just politely asked that you make allowances for those people who need to vent a little.
Of course, you must check those who would make unfounded accusations, use abusive language, etc. No problem here with that. I just ask that you continue to be a local outlet for people's questions and frustrations.
We need this, and you provide a great service.
BTW, most of the national blogs/comment sections I have read are made up mostly of accusations, lots of exclamation points, poor spelling, and generally from people with whom it would be difficult to have a normal discourse. I much rather converse with the intelligent local posters on here.

Fred, there is another blog you could post on if you need to vent. It isn't used as much as it used to be but it does allow you to post your own topics. It is called The Norwood Discussion Board.
http://disc.yourwebapps.com/Indi...ces/

I understand CBN's view point. This site is news only and responses are to be pointed at the articles topics. The Norwood discussion board will allow you to post and have comments. I think that may solve your problem.

I would like to point something out, though.
I am not one of those that puts out the hateful, racial, accusatory comments that we are talking about here. I try to limit myself to thoughtful, rational comments on other peoples posts. I don't have a problem. I just want to keep open another line of communication.

There's never a dull moment in Norwood. Odd as that may seem. Norwoodians are always good for political and other discussions.
I remember WCPO sponsoring neighborhood bulletin boards. That was all we needed.
Most neighborhood boards had 2-3 discussions with a total of abut 20 people in both. Norwood had about 10 discussions with something like 150 participants - complaining, arguing, name-calling.
I would call it "hilarious" but it did get out of hand to the point that WCPO deleted the Norwood board altogether!!
So everyone in Norwood jumped on St. Bernard's board (much to the dismay of St. Bernard residents).
Ah, Norwood.
Norwood, we LOVE thee.

Anon - LOL! Can you not post one thing without making it a race issue? I'd love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with you to hear to sob story - I would suggest Seattle's Best in the new Kroger, but I assume that there's too many "white folk" in there for you. I feel sad for you Anon - your life must be pretty miserable with all that racist hate and having to play the victim every day.
BTW - I'm not white.

" Boy, you sure get upset easily, don't you? I post a very reasonable, calm and rational idea and you jump down my throat about it....Where's your concern about others?"....
In response to your first point - Yes, there are many people get upset when our Police and some Norwood citizens are accused of racism with no proof, possibly by someone with an "axe to grind" or taking out their rage over their lot in life by attacking police officers...
In response to your second point -
I do have concern for others, inlcuding those whose reputations questions, maligned or ruined, by someone on a web blog, without any rcourse against that person should those accusations prove to be unfounded.
How about filing a formal complaint wiht the City or prosecutor? That way, if it is accurate, no problem. If its not, you might have a BIG problem.
Where is YOUR concern for others?
