Certainly I think that obesity is bad whether or not you'll actually die from it. It's not healthy, but gosh, for those who simply have a few more pounds, the world has gone crazy. There is a strange emphasis on thinness, not health. I suspect the war on fat is more to do with social standards than medical concerns.

Good point, Jay. The obsession with thinness is just as bad as obesity. The difference is, as you note, our society frowns on fat while rewarding being thin. We encourage overweight people to lose weight, but we rarely say to thin people, "Boy, you ought to eat more!" Unless, of course, they're anorexic celebrities who end up on the cover of tabloids...

You couldn't be more wrong about obesity being "bad". Naturally you have come to believe that because the media has brainwashed you into thinking that. In all reality, being overweight, or even obese, is a plus in the health department. Although it may appear unnatractive by todays standards
