Gravatar Hey Alan,

Glad to hear that you've all landed safely in Bologne. So I'm never sure how I feel about the ethics of borrowing/repeating open WiFi networks... but if you really want to do it right (for the record: this was set up to repeat my own network in our large house in Philly), DD-WRT is much better than Alchemy. Among the nice features: your network settings (i.e., security) do not have to match the non-settings of the open network.

Gravatar About the ethics, I'm limiting myself to little traffic, in order not to disturb the person generously providing the free access. But I've ordered ADSL here, it just seems to take a while to be set up.

I heard of DD-WRT when searching for solutions, but could not find a simple tutorial. Moreover, I don't know what the router is at the other end and if I can extend its network (as the moment I'm just using client mode). If you have a link to a simple tutorial, I could try it.
