Good post. Jesus is spirit. Our emotions do not know Him. Our spirits know Him. Fruits of the Spirit and emotions are very different. Emotions are like swirling eddies. But the still waters run deep into our spirits. Learn stillness. Know God. Let your spirit arise. Learn quietness of soul. The Great Awakening is even at the door. It shall be a profoundly spiritual movement... of great stillness and quietness of soul... and manifestation of the Spirit unprecedented in about 2000 years.
Your spirit knows revelation. Your emotions born of the flesh... know nothing and must perish. It is the fruits of the Spirit that commune with God and are born of the Spirit. Emotions come forth from the flesh.
Love that is of God is not an emotion. It is agape, phileo etc. and is a work and fruit of the Spirit. Release emotion and recognize the way to know God: be still and know that I am God. In stillness, that is when your spirit will come into your consciousness and will come alive and you will be aware.
You have asked, I seem to sense the Spirit saying, to know the gifts of the Spirit. It is like pulling back the curtains. Your emotions are the curtains that block the stage. Set the stage. Draw back the curtains. The gifts will operate. Be still.
Well, I can't say that I was really "in the Spirit" - I'm human too. But I felt moved to say those things. How much human, how much Spirit... the Lord knows.
