Dr. iPod,
I am your valued student, Grasshopper. This note takes me into new and uncharted territory - the blog. I've read several, but never made a deposit into anyone else's. How am I doing so far? Is deposit the correct word??
Beth thinks you need a counselor? Dr. Jack suggests that you may find redemption in a straight jacket and some electroshock. Let me know if I might provide either/or....
I feel like I am looking through your sock/underwear drawer reading your website and blog. Is that the general idea? Technologically naked to the world at large?
Ahh, great master....so many unanswered questions. Please offer great wisdom.
Humbly,
G. Hopper

Ah, a new reader! Welcome to my sock drawer!
"Deposit" is fine. We like to call them "comments," though. This blog is a big part of my life, since I don't handwrite a journal anymore.
Keep checking every day, and by all means, deposit frequently!

Ben - why does my husband have so many posts on YOUR blog? I love him for his everything.
Books - seriously, I love your ambitions towards reading...but some books take more time than others. I can read any Harry Potter book in two days...but...The Time Machine takes a bit more time and thought...as do most of the books on your list!
My suggestion - read 1984 soon. It applies to today. "Big Brother is watching you."
As for the rest, I really don't know a lot of your chosen novels. Memoirs of a Geisha is lovely...if you are going to read Steinbeck...try East of Eden..read Huck Finn...the easiest on your list are the Grisham books. If you want a western (L'Amour) and want something difficult and disturbing try Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. A few of my colleauges and I read it over Christmas break for discussion...it was hard for us all (I was the only woman in our group)...trust me it was ugly...blood and gore but truth rained upon this novel.
But seriously, 1984...that really should be your next novel.
As for counseling, watch and listen to Anika, she is counseling. Children teach us so much about ourselves. As for good friends...there are at least two people in Colorado who would listen, laugh, and offer you insight about anything without judgement.
Love to you and your beautiful family,
Sarah Weis!

Sarah,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm only going to read the books on this list for the reason I mentioned before: I've collected too many books over the past six years and never read them. I have vowed not to buy any more books until I've read what I have. Beth wanted it this way, and I finally decided to do it. No more computers at home; I'll just play with Anika until she goes to bed and then read. Keep reading here, though, and commenting. The more readers I have, the less likely it will be for me to quit this whole weblog.
