Even the thought of abortion makes me feel sick. I look at my best friend's two-year-old sister, and when I hold her in my lap, it appalls me that someone could think to murder someone so innocent... so small... so helpless. I read a statistic somewhere recently that spoke of New York City's abortion rate. It said that for every one hundred live births, there were seventy-four abortions. Consider that, about how far short this generation is being cut!

Consider the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers, Pentagon, and Shanksville. There were at least 2,986 fatalities. The world mourned the effects of the deaths of these people. And it seems like there is very little mourning the lives of these children. Think: if we had 1,566,666 (average, not exact figures) 30 year olds, what would they be doing? Fighting this war on terrorism, possibly? Changing the world for Christ, possibly?

I'm sure not everyone will agree with me on this one, and I'm really not that knowledgeable, but I think we can all agree on abortion being wrong. What are we going to do with a whole generation missing? God blesses a nation through it's children. Are we rejecting God's blessings?

I agree ,Carley, the incredible mourning that went on for almost a year (or longer) for the 3,000 who died in the Twin Towers should not be any greater then the mourning for the 47 million infants slaughtered in the past several years. But unfortunately, not many people realize how many infants have died or they just don't care. Forty- seven million is an incredible amount ( a lesser amount then that which would be wiped out by a nuclear bomb) .

An entire generation has been murdered, and if something drastic doesn't happen soon the deaths will continue.

Regarding demographics, here is a great article recommended to me by Barak Wright (xanga.com/savedbygrace89); written by Canadian columnist Mark Steyn (pron: stine).

In it Mr. Steyn argues that Western civilization (Europe especially) stands a remarkable chance of either collapsing or turning from socialism to Islam rule, because Westerners aren't having babies at a sustainable enough rate. Therefore, they take in Muslim immigrants who become the majority of electors, thereby changing the zeitgeist of the civilization.

For instance, in 1970, the developed world constituted 30% of the world's population, and the Muslim world was 15%. In 2000, the developed world had declined to 20% and the Muslim world had advanced to 20% of global population.

Where is this headed?

In response to Nathan Straub's question, I would like to point out a possibility that occurred to my mother. It is her opinion that during the Trib, the "one-world" religion will not be a "non-religion versus Christianity" battle at all, as most End Days fiction books depict, but an "Islam versus Christianity" battle. After all, if you look at how much today's mainstream culture is trying to teach everyone "tolerance" of Islam, along with various factors you have mentioned and others... is it not at least a possibility?

Of course, this could be completely off-base - I've never done an in-depth study of Revelations - but I don't think it specifies anywhere exactly what the religion that the Antichrist foists upon us as the one-world religion will be, does it?

That certainly is an interesting theory. But most texts discussing the Great Tribulation/End Times indicate that the Anti-christ -- or "The Beast" as he is called Revelation -- will be worshipped as God by people the world over. It's not that he'll foist some foreign religion on the entire planet so much as he will create a religion centered upon himself. However, this whole discussion is, as you suggested, mere speculation.

On the matter of abortion, I'd have to agree with everything that has been said. It is abhorrent, and the bloodshed that has occurred since abortion began to be legalized in the 1960s pains the heart. However, I would also like to remind everybody that abortion is not the be-all and end-all. We ought to keep in its proper context, understanding that it is our culture and our society as a whole that need to be reformed and revitalized. The fight against abortion is only one battle, one front, in the larger culture wars.

the definition of born is to be brought into existence. catholics believe it happens before the woman medically "gives birth". doesn't that seem weird to you. before your mother medically gives birth, u are already born? which is why i have come to the conclusion more than 50% of anti-abortion supporters.

IT IS RIDICULOUS to call this MURDER. i am not trying to beat down others opinions but state mine and others own which seems to be lacking in this entire website and if this post is deleted it just goes to show u how close minded christians can be.
