"Rather than allow the student to study whatever he sees fit, however he sees fit, delight-directed study urges parents to guide their child’s studies..."

I have had many anonymous comments by angry people who see me as a sheltered, isolated and uneducated child who cannot think but for my parents ideas... no matter how much I say I cannot convince him/her that such an education as a "delight-directed study" allows me to take what I have learned from my parents and use that knowledge to evaluate differant things outside the home... I have more freedom to think than a public schooler does!

I really enjoyed this post...

Thanks Patriot15. I am trying to get into a better routine of writing posts. Your feedback helps me do that. Please tell your friends. God bless.

It's funny how God brings people into your life. I ran across a tape set of yours on homeschooling a few months ago at a yard sale and was delighted with it, About a year ago I found your sons website the rebulution and encouraged my daughter to read it, I have also read your oldest sons book about dating.....not ever knowing all these people were tied together.....to add to this mixture I mentioned your name to a very good friend of mine to find out that you are a part of
hofcc (my frineds have recenly started a church in Covington, Wa that is a part of hofcc)Not knowing again that you are a part of that!!

I believe it is my devine appointment, I am a homeschooling parent, who's husband believes we should put our daughter in school for her high school years. She is currently in 6th grade and each year I pray that he will change his mind. My husband has promised this week he will sit down and watch your homeschooling seminar with me and I have been praying that the word presented there will open his heart. He only allowed our daughter to be pulled from school because we were moving a great deal for his work, he has never been a firm believer in homeschooling. As part of my plea for homeschooling I was going to show him your sons web site and watch the video, so when I found out how all these things, that have been encouraging me over the past few months are tied together, it's like God saying I am here, I have heard you.
I have been very blessed by your work ! And your son's blog has been a huge encouragement to me and my daughter!

I work for a company called Anderson Press Inc. We just acquired a company called Intervisual Books or also known as Piggy Toes Press. The company was bankrupt and now we have some issues with records needing updated. You do not owe us money this is not an attempt to collect. We just need to confirm that you did some work for this company in the past. Also, we would like a current address and contact info. from you. If in the reconciling of this bankruptcy we find that you are owed any money we can send this to you . Please respond as soon as possible with this information. We apologize for any inconvenience we may be causing you.

Thank you,
Katie Willett

Mr. Harris,
I have found your blog as a result of finding your sons' blog. Remebering your name from the earlier days of the homeschooling movement, I decided to try to find out more about you all. My oldest child is 19 and I am always looking for those who have gone before me and have raised their children with some of the same goals I have had. I've been interested in finding encouragement for our family from those who have seen good fruit from their labors. Sometimes we feel like we are nearly alone in the battle.

Even by just reading these few posts and seeing the work of your sons (we have valued Joshua's books for years now), I can see you have a lot of wisdom to offer this generation of parents. Please consider posting more often and sharing the wisdom you have acquired. And I'm sure your wife has a lot to share too. I'd love to have more places to send younger parents where they would find valuable direction.

Thank you for your family's leadership in home education. My husband and I have been home-schooling our children for about 15 years. I am very interested in the "Delight Directed Study" chapter that I just read and hope to employ some ideas on it for my daughter who is experiencing great difficulty with the present curriculum. On another note, I told her twin sister that I thought your wife had been involved in ballet. She looked up one of your websites and discovered that that was in fact true and we would love to hear of any Christian Arts colleges that she could attend. She is a strong believer and does not want to go to a secular college for dance. I've never posted anything before and I'm not even sure if this is how to go about asking you but if your wife has any ideas we would appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.
