To me, this mimics the kind of reasoning that criticizes the Bush administration for NOT taking action before 9/11 (after all, we had all the information we needed to predict that event; a lunatic with a few followers in the Middle East said he hates the U.S., and would attack targets of millitary and economic interest to us), then criticezes it again for TAKING action in Iraq (where all we had was a lunatic in the Middle East with an entire country, billions of dollars in petroleum revenue, and a sizable military and his command, saying, "... we will destroy the U.S.!").
