ITV have just aired their promo for weekend primetime programmes (Friday-Sunday) to be aired in February. Duel didn't get a single mention.

On another note, has anybody spotted any promos for this weeks Duel? As I haven't.

Remember that new Chris Tarrant format we mentioned last week? Well, looks like it's gonna be on Challenge.

"Chris Tarrant is close to signing up to host another game show with a £1million cash prize.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host, 61, is in "advanced talks" with Challenge TV to front their new quiz called It's Not What You Know.

Members of the public hoping to scoop a fortune will be teamed up with celebrities. A TV insider said: "We are expecting Chris to sign any day. He really likes the format."

Hmm, yes - one can only presume it'll be absolutely impossible to win the top prize so that Virgin Media aren't bankrupted.

Just for a point of reference, the lowest ever audience for a £1m win on British television is - I think - about 5m (it was either the Karen Shand win on The Vault, the very first one on TFI Friday or the second PokerFace final).

I can accept Challenge having a show with a tough to win £1m top prize. I find it very difficult to believe Chris Tarrant would actually be involved though.

What's an average Challenge prize budget at the moment, anyway? Just so we've got some idea of how incomprehensibly difficult to win the £1m will be.

I think you grossly underestimate the amount of money Challenge has, £1m wouldn't bankrupt them, but it certainly isn't the sort of thing they'd want to be giving out every day. Besides, I suspect they'd have insurance taken out against it happening.

But if it appears too difficult to win then nobody will watch. The million in Millionaire always feels achieveable, the only thing stopping people from winning being fear, mainly. I bet this show will have a main game with a (say) £5k prize for the winner which they can gamble on something unlikely for the million - don't expect the show to be offering quarter-million and half-million consolation prizes.
