Hey, that's a fantastic scarf! It must lend a lovely weight to it with all the beads, and it's worth knitting for the name alone!
And sorry to hear about your camera/hat mishap - bummer or what?

Thanks for sharing your pattern, it's a great scarf. I am going to make one as soon as I clean up some of my WIPs that are hanging around. I'm gonna post about them later this week. ugh.

Almost makes me want to be a knitter.
*wondering how a scarf made out of ALL beads would be*
I have a million of those I could work with...*S*....I like the crochet destructions for bead usage. It's an abbreviation for "bead up" *bup*
always makes me want to say excuse me.

A scarf out of all beads would be completely fabulous, Sequana!!!
LOL. re "bup".

Wow - the scarf is beautiful! I love the pattern - am bead-phobic (probably the result of childhood trauma having to do with a bead up one's nose - or was that a tin foil ball in the ear? Anyway, I think I'm going to give it a shot sans beads - will you ever forgive me?

I will forgive you, Joan - just pick a very pretty (and preferably sparkly!) yarn...

A question to tax your queendom further...........
Did you actually count all the beads so you know how many you would actually use? Or was it a wild guess...........cause I won't knit it unless I know the EXACT number.
This is a test.......remember........of your queendom.

Susie: well, in addition to being Queen of Lace I am also Queen of Beads. The beads know they are my humble subjects... and in this regard, when I tip the bead vial into my hot little hand the EXACT NUMBER needed came out, and then one of them held up a little flag and told me how many were needed, and that was that!
LOL.
Kidding, of course. I knew how many beads per row there were, of course, and I knew approximately how many rows I wanted in the scarf. I also knew how many beads (approximately) were in each vial. So - I guesstimated, making an executive decision fit for a head (less chicken) of state...

Thank you very much, Natalia: it was quite simple to knit, actually... the fun was in deciding what colours of beads to use!

That scarf is gorgeous! I love the zig zag and the gunmetal beads. I'm gonna have to try it. Did you put it on ravelry?

I have a (probably very stupid) question. The ssk thing - if you slip a stitch, then slip another, they will both be on the right hand needle. How do you then knit them??
I'm sorry - I'm not a knitter, but I would like to try this scarf and cannot work out how to ssk!
Cheers

CJ:
Not a stupid question! It's not intuitive, that's for sure.
Do as you've been doing, then insert the tip of your LEFT needle into the front loops of the slipped stitches. Then knit as usual with the right needle.
There is a video here on how to do it: http://www.knittinghelp.com/vide...ideos/
decreases
Also: is it important that your decrease slant to the left (as shown in the photo in the link)? If not, you can probably get away with k2tog (knit two together) which can be a bit easier, at least for me.
Hope this helps!

CJ: I just realised you were asking about my pattern! (blushing). If you use the k2tog all around it won't work as well for this sort of thing... although maybe it would! I don't know. The holes resulting from the yarnover would not have as pronounced a slant so might affect the zigzag pattern.
cheers

Thanks Kristina, very helpful - I'll give it a go now. I won't be beading though, as beads seem to be one of those things that are a *lot* less expensive on your side of the Atlantic than mine. Also I'm going to have a hard enough time following a knitting pattern without complicating it with beads. I think it will still be beautiful.

Thanks, CJ: good luck and if you wanted to send me a photo when done I'd be most grateful. Assuming you're in the UK - I was there recently and did wander into a shop that sold beads. They were very expensive by standards even in Canada. The ones I'm using right now cost $1.00 or so for 350 quantity. The (better quality) ones I used for that scarf were around $4.20 USD for 350.

If I finish it, I will photograph it. The trouble is, I'm no good at undoing mistakes, so if I get to row 97 and mess it up, I'm not sure I'll have the patience to unravel it and start all over again! Cross fingers please.
And thank you for the pattern, if I've not been polite enough to say that already (and I don't think I have!). It's not often I see a knitting pattern that is at once pretty enough and simple enough to give me the courage to attempt it. You are one clever lady.
