Well said. I've always seen it as (further) proof of conservative obtuseness that they whine and squeal "they want special status" about a community who's discriminated against, and so as you point out, already has a "special status" that they'd gladly give up. The irony is staggering.

it is ironic indeed that religion is now claiming persecution and discrimination. the state's in bed with religion, religion's in bed with the state and, oh my, what an orgy of sin because , in the end, it perpetuates all that is unconstitutional and against the teachings of christ.
