Oh this news has made this Canada Day brilliant.
I'm usually pretty cynical about the whole nationalistic ego stroking that goes on but what the hell, Canada hit it out of the ballpark today! YAY!

I have to admit I never learned the French parts because I was done with school by the time the song went bilingual. Gawd I’m so old.
I'm over the moon about this.
Since Harper got in, it sometimes seems like we're losing our country to the mental defectives, but this award reassures me that we're not. Canada is still an adamantly pro-choice and progressive country.

The wingnuts don't have nearly the hold on this country that I was afraid they did. Harper could have done something to stop this and he didn't.
