No Martin, the real losers are the 22 Americans that got killed in Mosul today. Gee, I thought that all of the positive ju-ju from those yellow magnetic ribbons would've protected those guys.

Sorry Martin.
Lt. Dawn Wheeler was waiting in line for chicken tenders when a round hit on the other side of a wall from her. A soldier who had been standing beside her was on the ground, struggling with shrapnel buried deep in his neck.
"We all have angels on us," she said as she pulled away in a Humvee.
(Gee, I guess the angels protecting the 22 dead soliders were also at lunch!!)

Gee, Craig!! I guess no one ever told you about war -- you know, people die. That's the problem with liberals. They just can't accept the sordid part of life -- i.e., freedom has a cost, some people are truly evil, sometimes war is necessary, soldiers die in war. They hide in the sand and thankfully coldhearted traditionalists are around to do their job.
Grow up, Craig. Maybe then you can start shouldering some of the responsibility so many others have had to carry on your behalf.

Craig, your problem with this war is with the war itself, not with the fact that people die in war. You are merely exploiting their deaths for your own political purposes, which confirms that you really don't give a damn about them or the Iraqi people whom you'd rather consign to despotism than give them a fighting chance at freedom.

This might sound harsh to many Liberals, but if you are not prepared to die in a war, don't sign up for the military. Remember, we don't have a draft - our soldiers made a choice. They made a tough choice, and I bet they're not whining over there about it like many Liberals are in this country.

Golly gee fellas, don't gang up on me at one time.
Now dudes, I have two sons. This idiot has fucked up the ME so much that it is more than likely that the draft will come back. This idiot has created a mess that didn't need to be created. How many of you wanted war because of WMDS. Now you're only changing your tune and mentioning "freedom". Well as Animal Mother said in FMJ, get your head outta your ass.

Yeah, except some of the guys hit today were not volunteers. They were NationalGuard soldiers on an involuntarily extended tour of duty because this President has so stupidly overextended our volunteer army that he has to essentially draft these people to serve longer than they agreed to serve.

You must know that national guardsman are volunteers who know that they may be activated. By your calculus, war is obsolete and we will never be able to fight one because you'd let everyone pick and choose their battles regardless of orders. You don't like the war, say so, but this is a really stupid argument.

Let me try and walk you through this Murali. I agree with you that if you are not prepared to die in a war, don't sign up for the military. Which is exactly why enlistments are now down and exactly why our military is now spread very thin! God help us if a situation arose that REALLY commanded our resources in the form of troops. Can you spell D-R-A-F-T!! I also have a son and I am very thankful that this idiot will be out of office by the time he's of age. If my son was 10 years older I'd have a Canadian address already picked out.

the choice is between going to war over wmd and being wrong; and not going to war and then losing a couple of our cities to nukes... well that's an easy gamble.

Craig,
One has to accept the God decides when we leave this world for the otherside. President Bush did make the decision to take out Iraq. However, God decides if your number is up. You can't hide from him.

So, had we not gone to war then the 1000+ Americans who died in Iraq would have died anyway, since God decided it was their time?? Hmmm.

people die in war. i'd much rather take the risk that we're wrong than to take saddams word for it and wake up one morning to see one of our cities gone

Craig - I'm a Christian Republican and I criticized Clinton for cheating on his wife, getting a BJ in the oval office, selling out the Dept of Commerce to James Riday, John Huang and the Chinese Republican Army, and the possible (I'm not convinced)refusal to take custody of Osama Bin Laden from Sudan in 1998, and leaving Rwanda in a genocidal frenzy by wimping out and refusing to declare it for what it was, which would have required US and UN action (although UN action is sort of an oxymoron.)
But I like you're board; hope you don't mind me posting here. Seems like a pretty diverse crowd
