I am about to go for my masters and have several friends who have recieved/ studying for either their masters or phd. One really good way to prepare is to get a basic understanding of latin. ALso if you start reading books on a variety of theological topics..

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but long term the best thing you can do is pray.
