i know the doctor is concerned, but you are a prayerful woman who takes notes at her OB visits and probably has read a heck of a lot about aging and pregnancy and what the inherent risks are. the most important thing you can do at this point (other than pray of course!) is attend all of your visits, heed his advice as much as possible with five children about staying off your feet (if that advice is ever given), eat correctly, get rest, take your maternal vites. you'll be good to go.
also, if you do opt for the amnio or genetic testing, you are a wise woman and i know you will study up on whatever results came your way in order to prepare for your new little one; however, God's grace will be there to carry you through each and every step of the way...

It frustrates me how much doctors focus on what COULD go wrong, when nothing could be wrong to begin with.
I'm 27, but this last pregnancy they pushed an amnio/genetic testing on me because of my previous miscarriage. It wsa ridiculous! They kept saying "but there could be something wrong!" Well, as if that's going to change me having this baby!

I was married 15 years and nearly 40 before I had my kids. Had a good Catholic doctor who didn't give me a sermon on age (haven't we heard it all before?) and offered testing but did not push it because even if something was wrong it wouldn't have changed anything other than freak me out during the pregnancy, and then potentially impact the baby who would sense that mom's worried about something. I had two very difficult, high risk pregnancies that had nothing to do with age. My grandmother had babies until she was 50, all healthy. Many ladies of her generation did. It's only in the last few generations that this contraceptive, anti-baby mindset has crept in. God bless you and your baby!
