Our pastor has been heard to comment that "people who write the Prayer of the Faithful have an axe to grind."

When he has no deacon to read the "assigned" ones, he resorts to:

For our Pope and Bishops, we pray....
For our nation's leaders, we pray....
For those who are persecuted for their faith, we pray....

etc.

No axes. Just real prayers.
