I remember seeing that during the game. I gotta agree with you. Not necessarily on the "rape me sign," but at least that those clothes are a bit too mature for a girl of her age to be wearing in public. It just ain't right.

I agree that no clothes state "rape me" when coming from the victim's perspective. Even if a woman is wearing provocative clothing, should she be sexually assaulted in any way she most certainly is not "asking for it."
The "rape me" comment is coming more from the perpetrator's perspective, because there are perps who will say and believe shit like "she was asking for it" just because of what a woman is wearing.
Also, the "rape me" comment is a bit of an exagerration. I don't believe that just some kind of enticing apparel will lead someone to commit a crime like sexual assault. I believe that there's something fucked up to begin with in that person's head that drives them to commit crimes like that. At best, something like a cheerleading outfit on a 10-year-old is a catalyst. Hence my comment that, sadly, pedophiles will be pedophiles no matter what.
Basically, it pisses me off that parents so mindlessly do things like potentially give child molesters that kind of impetus. Putting a young girl in outfits like that, if nothing else, is going to make the child stand out and be noticed. It irritates me to no end that parents can be so irresponsible and take chances like that.

Actually this type of thing pisses me off for other reasons. The mind set of people like this is the same as that of the parents who put their kids in paegents from an early age. Its okay for them to parade their kids around dressed in obviously provacative adult style clothing and have them perform and emulate pop tunes involving dating and romance and breakups and whatever else on a stage. But when you point out to them that doing this might be possible wrong or irresponsible for all those reasons you laid out in your post, these socalled "parents" will be all outraged and indignant at this prospect and suddenly you're the bad guy because only a fucked pedophile would posssibly come up with such a horrid thought to begin with.
Do you think JonBenit Ramsey is better off for participating in all those contests? Personally I'm sure the experience taught her some valuable lessons.
