So true.

The hooker in the movie states "I think that ten years from now we will be wildly successful".

I retorted, "That's a lie. I said the same thing when I was her age".

The biggest disappointment for me as an 80's child is that all of the stuff I believed about hard work turned out to be only partially true.

I have woken up in my mid thirties to discover that (ick) I am in the middle class.

The shock and awe is wearing off and Mr. Director and I are on the path to seeking out a quality lifetime through other means.

Clearly, the Executive Suite was not meant for us. Only the idiots and people who walk on water get there. Oh, and sometimes the really smart but partially pychotic make it too.

There is a part of me that still thinks we have the goods to make it. In anticipation of the day that luck might shine on us, we will keep our skills sharp and continue to grow. We'll just be very efficient about it.

In the meantime, we'll see you at the beach.

Gravatar You echo my thoughts exactly! This was also part of the reason why I refused to work overtime.

Gravatar After my first job out of college which was an unmitigated disaster in every way, I promised myself that I would never, ever do something I didn't love.

As a guiding principle, I think it's made me pretty happy.

Gravatar Hey, did I ever mention how much I appreciate you talking about stuff like this? It's probably a better eye opener into work life than anything they might teach you in school...

Hey, I may start sending kids in my sunday school to your site for an education.
