Brilliant! I've been answering those answers for years, but somehow you wrote it all out quite succinctly.

What great comebacks! I have to field all those questions on a fairly regular basis myself. In the catagory of "Teachers have to be evaluated, why not homeschoolers..." I like to point out that teachers and students of public schools are not evaluated because it's the moral thing to do, but because they are part of a public tax paying system and we, as the customers, want to make sure our employees and their product are up to standards. In other words, public employees are accountable to the public, hence the testing. I, as a home educator, am not employed by the tax payers and therefore, I do not have to be overseen by them.

Fantastic!! I am going to print it out and tape it to my forehead so those who continue to ask such innane questions over and over again don't have to waste my time... thanks so much.

Here is a funny for you. My dd had a FRIEND tell her stats of homeschoolers. (the friend is in PS and you can tell her statements came from a MISSinformed parent.) LOL
The stat was how homeschoolers don't score as well on SAT's as PS kids. LOL I told my dd to tell her friend if she is going to quote stats...know what she is talking about first.
Sorry my bad I know but I fell out laughing when she said it.
