the 96 storm was way worse than this so they either inflated the depth total or it's just fluffier snow.

yeah i was just having that conversation with a guy from work, about how much worse '96 was. maybe part of it was that this year's storm happened on a Sunday so it didn't have the same crippling effect. but it definitely seemed much milder overall.

i'm glad you guys agree because i feel strongly on this issue. in 96 ...

there were giant snowberms
the sidewalks were impassable for 3 days
it snowed for 36 hours
feral wookies took over the ramble

none of the above were endemic to the blizzard of 06

the blizzard of 96 was also a sunday, but we weren't allowed on the roads until monday night.

it may not have had 24.6 inches, but that was way worse.

you know what? i figured it out. the blizz of '06 broke a record for snowfall over a 24-hour period. that is the key because as i said the blizz of '06 was almost a two-day weather event*

* if you go around saying "weather event" people are gonna snap to it.
