Careful on too much lap time with that new mac. Who knows what those magnetic fields can do to you down there.

Shameless mac product shots on the Sopranos this week. Don't we get enough ads?

yeah that was pretty flagrant on sopranos. the only thing I could think of was that they were trying to make a point that Timothy Daly's character is a typically pretentious, mac-using "creative type."

but more likely it was a paid arrangement, you're right.

Does that mean you're one of those "creative types" or just a wanna be?

enjoy the PontiMac

yesterday at work i put forth what can only be described as below minimum effort. i fully expected nasty emails today but received none. i feel like a guy who stole something and was sure the cops were coming for him -- except they didn't.

I hope Gilda Radner hosted the muppets once.

I read an article recently about product placement in movies, TV shows, etc. and it singled out the Sopranos for its ubiquitous and blatant product placements. The Sopranos and/or HBO people denied they were being compensated for doing so. Hard to believe given how obvious they are about it.

imagine if it turned out the money for the product placement was being funneled to the mob?

i have some experience with this (hold your boos) - product placement in movies is paid for... on tv, it's not - it's governed by the FCC, and they're supposedly not allowed to accept it. of course, they just get free products... a few years ago we gave the cast of baywatch stars some omega watches in exchange for them to stop a few slo-mo jiggle shots long enough for them to check the time - [sprint, jiggle, cut to ECU/ watchface, cut to resume sprint to rescue], we give tons of video game stickers/posters/t-shirts/etc. to shows (and of course the actual games and occasionally buy the cast/crew's lunch catering for the day).

on to important stuff:
most web dev. programs on the mac have built in interfaces for publishing; you can also use the 'connect to server' from the menu or by hitting [apple]-k while in the finder (your desktop). at work, we use 'fetch', it's pretty much the old standby, it's shareware i think:
http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/
but there are many good free apps, check:
http://www.macupdate.com
or
http://www.versiontracker.com
you can sort apps by freeware...

...and congrats on the new mac - i bet the air smells cleaner, food tastes better - you may even finally start that exercise program you've been thinking about! swell!

buy an HD for backup ASAP...

lol

back it up on a WIN/pc and you'll be ok
