As you probably recall, because the field dimensions are for small children (and weaklings like myself), we made a rule that a dinger is an inning ending out. Feeling deprived of the satisfaction of hitting one out with meaning, we instituted "Batter's Choice," which means that once a game, each player has the opportunity to announce his (or her) intention to go yard in that at bat. Said announcement is also to be accompanied by some sort of gesture indicating said yard-going. If the batter hits it out, it counts. If not, ball's in play.
