i was just starting to worry you were dead.

i got into a long talk with a coworker yesterday about how the 70s were the greatest decade ever, by far, and will never be matched.

I don't know what you do, but is it worth the overall cost? This is your only life. And I know how easy that is to say and how hard it is to actually act on it. Hope the misery breaks soon. You're not alone in it.

PoCho Pete

hey, fuck the police, time to go back to writing parking tickets instead of being a full fledge cop. at least then you can still see your family, drink beers and go to strip joints. everythings a trade off. more patrol=less life.

I suggest you seriously consider finding a different job. You might, like many other people, end up looking back at this era (which, if you let it, will last years and years) with a huge degree of regret.

pbdotc, just to play the devil's advocate, which is tough for me to do in this particular case... the 70s only seem so great in hindsight; at the time, the era was rife with

nah, I can't do it. You're absolutely right. They were the greatest decade.

glad to hear u still have a pulse...tell them work mofo's to schtepp or get schtepped on!

can you carry 2x4s and beat things with a hammer?

we're hiring.

I have a headache this morning, which I attribute, in large part, to empty bottles.

This isn't Japan, homeslice. Don't work yourself to the bone for the man. Work-family balance is the new macho. Somehow I picture you with a happy life in suburban, say, Milwaukee.

I assume PBdot's talking about the 1470s?

Welcome back, Hans. If you decide to leave your job, don't quit. Do something stupid and get fired. Then at least you'll have a story to tell on the old e-log.

I don't know what it says about this place that when I read "The Steakhouse Incident"
http://www.ihos.com/steakhouse.html
I immediately though of Verbungle.

wow cW-- that was what blogs were invented for.

I am sick from reading that.

...the link, not the post!

Nice to see you come for air for a bit, Hans. This sucks about the workload. If you haven't already, it might be time to start fantasizing about undemanding, on-the-clock jobs. I think this is the best spin on being a Long John Silver's fry cook that I have ever read: http://www.npr.org/templates/ sto...storyId=7572601

Well, it's also the only spin on being a fry cook that I've ever read. It also probably easier to be philosophical about a crummy job when you're not doing it anymore.

About time for an update, seeing that this is the only blog I look at.
replies:
#1, isn't the 70's the decade if you remember anything you were not "really" there?
#2 If you don't care for the effort working for someone else, try working for yourself. Then you can really kiss your life as you know it, goodbye.
Glad to see you have arisen.

Mike's comment from 2/25 is offensive. Japanese people definitely know how to balance work/play. That's why we have karaoke bars, bubble teas, and a great red light district. Fuck USA mother fucker mike

the dow is getting pummeled like a cheap whore

Bubble teas -- now there's a good time!
