Gravatar Where's our "peace" activist friend Repsac?

If I'm not mistaken, he lives in the Bronx. Surely he could gather up some of his "anti war" buddies and head a few miles down the road to Columbia to protest against the warmongering nuke-making Iranian monster?

There's a convenient subway stop right at 116th and Broadway where the protest for non-Columbia I.D. holders is being organized.

I'm looking forward to Repsac's report from the scene, with photos.

Gravatar Hi Mike: Repsac's been commenting less frequently, lately. Maybe he's off to join the hordes at Columbia after all!

Gravatar One of the best lessons emerging out of the recent MoveOn scandal is that free speech has the powerful value of exposing despicable views to popular repudiation.

Call me a skeptic, but I am quite concerned about his speech. I'd like to think that people won't be fooled, but I am not confident that they won't try and gloss over the threat.

Too many like to play ostrich and bury their heads in the sand.

Gravatar I say let him speak. The left will eat it up, and we may just have more ammo for repudiating Tehran.

Thanks Jack!

Gravatar Am I missing something? I read an article on-line that was posted either September 21 or 22 that the president of Columbia withrew the invitation to Amadinejad.

Gravatar I am never suprised at the sophistication and intelligence of the common man, consequently, in that regard I agree that the Iranian leader be allowed to speak at Columbia.

Give college students and other interested parties a chance to hear after the fact "I told you so". And even if that turns out not be the case-- what do we as country have to lose when someone considered an "enemy" is on our soil? At least the ball is in our "court".

We are the Democracy-- and they, a Theocracy, isn't this a chance to show them how the enlighted live in a free country? Do not deny him these rights, particularly at a college, the training ground for our new leadership. At times "exposure" kills what seem mystical and powerful. With the best minds tuned in, this could be moment when he totally flops. Becomes less impressive.

By the suggestions for dis-invitation, we have given him more press and exposure, than I am sure he anticipated. At times the "quiet treatment" works equally well, under a watchful eye.

Let the Prime Minister speak!

Gravatar This dictator needs no lessons about the power of free speech ... he already knows all about free speech, and its power. That is why him and his colleagues go to great lengths to regulate it in Iran.

Second, Ahmedinijad still has access to the world media whenever he wants it.

Third, this "session" at Columbia will be under as many controls as a Presidential debate. Any appearance to actual free flows of ideas will be purely coincidental, and is not intended to portray actual truth, living or dead.

This is about granting a genocidal leader of a totalitarian regime the same respect and deference we give a checked-and-balanced, elected leader of a rights-respecting government.

This is one of the FUNDAMENTAL errors we have made, again and again during my lifetime, in international relations ... it is one big reason why the UN is toothless ...

... but once again, some check their prudence and judgment at the door, in the name of "free speech".

Ahmedinijad will play them, not like a Stradivarius, but like Jimi Hendrix played a Stratocaster ...

... with lots and lots of distortion.

Possibly leading to a climax involving setting something on fire.

I hope he plays to an empty house.

That would do more to teach him about the power of freedom, than any free-speech exercise.

Gravatar Sometimes the best way to expose a fool or a dangerous person is to let them speak. I don't think that's why Columbia is allowing him to but . . . it can work out that way.

I just hope he says something that will embarrass the American left.

Gravatar Loop Garoo: The invitation's on, though I did see something of the kind you mention.

Gravatar Thanks Vee: As I said, let him speak. I'm sure his talk will dig an even deeper hole for his regime.

Gravatar Hi Rich: It will be structured. Still, let's hear what he has to say. I'm convinced that nothing good can come of it, unless riling up more of the antiwar types has any benefit for the mullahs.

Gravatar Shoprat: The left should be embarrassed for embracing this guy, what, with his sponsorship of a Holocaust denial conference and his calls to eliminate Israel.

Gravatar no words..........

Gravatar As worthless and wasted the 5 minutes it will take me to type up this post are, temptation just got the better of me.

At least one of you fools had a decent logical thought - all this attention is just amplifying his ego. A man, a nation's leader no less, is always worthy of attention as long as he's not asking for your money or effort in return. You never know when and where you may discover a gem in the rough.

As far as the public, and therefore your, assessment of his message goes - man are you people blind..ed. If you took the split second to cast aside those "Bush goggles" you've had glued over your eyes, and took the time to examine and understand what this man has to say, than you'd understand that you are total puppets under the thumb of the prevailing propaganda.

And what's so bad about the destruction of Israel - that's not what he's calling for, btw, just the dissolution of the Israel government. After all, your dear Bush just destroyed Iraq, and Sadam didn't even have a concentration camp with 1.7 million innocent starving people living like dogs for the past 40 odd years. That is what Israel has made the West Bank into. Just ask an impartial Israelite, and you'll get the same view. So why, pray tell, are you idiots digging your heads into the sand and repeating like parrots what your stupid "democratic" government puts in all the books, and newspapers, and TV shows? Because you're too worried that listening to the truth from the mouth of a "genocidal leader" will taint your fragile naive minds!

Oh, and for the record, more people have died at the hands of Bush et al. than at Ahmedinejad's. Just check your recent history for all the wars waged by the US in the last 10 years. Now check how many wars Iran has waged - don't bother, the number is ZERO.

Now, before your numb loyal brains kick into overdrive, and make you send me some hatemail, just stop and think this material over for a minute. That's the least you can do for me, since I just wasted my 5 minutes enlightening you.

Gravatar I agree, Donald, let the man speak, especially at the U.N. Will any member of the press ask Dr. Ahmadinejad, after his U.N. speech this week, if he AGAIN saw the approving green light from the 'Hidden Imam' suffuse the General Assembly while he berated the U.S. and Israel, as he modestly admitted had occurred during his previous U.N. speech?

It is important to have the world see the representative of theofascism---the Khomeini doctrine of the 'learned jurisprudent'---at his best, full of religious wonder at the divine approval for his message. But then, probably some of the senior clerics in Iran have suggested that the good doctor not mention the green light this year, since no one else saw it last time, despite all the world watching.

A demonstration ouside the U.N. when he speaks, say, holding a harmless green smoke, would put this new speech in the proper context.

Gravatar Let him speak and give him an ear full when he does !!

Gravatar i really hope that the people at columbia do exactly what they say they'll do...give him tough questions & don't let him sidestep them~~!!

Gravatar Apologies to one and all. The article I read on-line that stated the president of Columbia had withdrawn the invitation to Amadinejad was from the NY Sun, apparently a tabloid. Perhaps it was the inviation to Bat Boy that was withdrawn.

Gravatar I think the problem with the whole "isn't our country great/freedom of speech/let him expose himself for who he is" line of reasoning, is that back in the Middle East, and in Iran in particular, they are going to cherry-pick/edit what Boellinger said, and what Ahm on a jihad said, for propaganda purposes. We already know he's a monster; and those in the free world who don't understand that, wouldn't have learned anything new about it, from this exchange. What we have given him, is footage that will get edited and spun into propaganda fodder for those back in Iran.

We've allowed ourselves to be used.

Gravatar That is what Israel has made the West Bank into. Just ask an impartial Israelite, and you'll get the same view.

Not even close. This is garbled claptrap that doesn't even touch upon reality.
