I can vaguely remember her "Flying Nun" days when she was the girl next door and one of America's sweethearts. Her career should have ended about 30 years ago; she would have been better for it.

I've no problem with disagreeing with her take on war (folks disagree often), but I was disappointed that Fox chose to lop off the part of her speech with which they disagreed, which was the reason the story was getting so much play, from what I understood...
I, for one, and THRILLED Fox 'lopped off' her filthy blaspheme.

Ironically, Sally Field starred in a pretty good movie quite a few years ago called "Not Without My Daughter" about an American woman married to an Iranian man, who finds herself virtually imprisoned by his family when they travel to Iran.
You'd think that she might see the need for mothers to stand up against such evil in the world.
Fox 'lopped off' the foul language at the end of her speech, not the speech itself. No network would allow that on air. It was Fox entertainment channel, not Fox News.
My husband made the observation that if she thinks mothers would rule differently, as I blogged about,too, then she's right as far as the Palestinan women do - as the mothers send their sons off with suicide bomb belts and take the blood money.
This is just more of the Leftwing superiority complex.
Libby, Phil Donohue was (is?) married to Marlo Thomas of That Girl fame (also of "daughter of Danny Thomas" fame). Marlo is equally as ditzy as Sally, though, so I can understand the confusion. They're pretty much the same person.
I don't know who Sally Fields is hooked up to, but I'll bet he's a mindless idiot... if he didn't start out that way, he'd be so by now!

Further, as you pointed out, the notion that if "mothers" ran everything there'd be no wars is preposterous. One only has to look at the history of the UK... the biggest expansionist periods in their history-- and the wars that went along with them-- were during the reigns of Elizabeth I and Victoria.
Elizabeth wasn't a "mom", but she was a woman, and Victoria made up for Liz's lack of kids in aces and spades.
So Victoria all by herself makes a lie of that preposterous statement.
