Gravatar just remember a lie told often enough becomes the truth.

I agree with your analysis, they used the words they wanted to use. by the context Rush used, I would think John Kerry was a "phony soldier".

Gravatar Good piece and well said. I had to find the video of what he said and wait for the whole transcript before I could write about and I WAS prepared to rip into Rush until I saw the whole thing.

Context is not something liberals do not understand which is why they were played so beautifully by Media Matters in this case.

Thanks for the link.

Gravatar Thanks Ron K.!

Gravatar You wrote a great piece, Spree. Keep up your excellent work!

Gravatar Crittendon made a serious mistake in this comment: "Anyway, “phony soldiers” was a stupid and offensive thing to say about people who are doing their duty and could be killed or maimed whether they agree with what they’ve been asked to do or not."

and then goes on to say: "Beauchamp, now, that guy I’d call a phony soldier, even though he’s serving overseas and could get his head blown off. But that’s because of the sockpuppetry, the lies, the dishonoring of his comrades."

The transcript clearly shows that Rush was talking about a SPECIFIC person, one Jesse MacBeth: "Now, recently, Jesse Macbeth, poster boy for the anti-war left, had his day in court. And you know what? He was sentenced to five months in jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans Affairs claim and his Army discharge record. He was in the Army. Jesse Macbeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he washed out of boot camp. Jesse Macbeth isn't an Army Ranger, never was. He isn't a corporal, never was. He never won the Purple Heart, and he was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen."

THAT was the example of the "phony soldiers" Rush was talking about. It's very clear in the transcript if you read it to the end. And it is remeniscent of the The Winter Soldiers investigation.

One of the problems of the Winter Soldiers tribunal, which was held in Chicago, was subsequent military investigations into their charges of atrocities committed in Vietnam. Many of the soldiers who supposedly testified at the conference could prove that they'd never been in Chicago.

Can you say, "Identity theft"?

Others who actually were there stated that they'd been coerced into false testimony.

Anyway, it appears that the Left is at it again!

Gravatar Thanks for the input, Mamapajamas!

Gravatar i am a fan of rush limbaugh - he does have the propensity to be a blowhard, but he seems to see boil things down more quickly than most out there. more often than not, what he predicts from his analyzation of things transpiring is dead-on accurate.

ron k, i disagree that rush's portrayal would make john kerry a phony soldier. i will agree with you that john kerry is a traitor based on his actions and speeches given while we were still in vietnam, he doesn't meet the threshhold that rush set.

he did make it past boot camp. he did serve in vietnam. and he did get (however ill-conceived they may have been) 3 purple hearts. none of these statements are true for jesse macbeth...

Gravatar Mr Limbaugh is being purposely smeared. Find the "conservatives" who feel a need to distance themselves or apologise for his frank and to the point truth, and you'll simply be pointing out the liberal enablers bowing at the alter of political correctness.
